Texas Criminal Records Database
The Texas Department of Public Safety
offers two fee-based databases for obtaining criminal information.
Search the Conviction Records Database by individual full name to find
summary records containing name, known aliases, date of birth, known
alias dates of birth, physical characteristics, arrest record, and a
unique criminal identification number. Expanding the arrest record
provides some information about the charges, sentencing, arresting
agency and agency receiving custody of the individual.
Scant documentation about the database appears at the
site. It appears to contain felonies and misdemeanors, but no
information exists about dates of coverage.
The Sex Offender Database permits searching by full
name or zip code. It provides sex offender name, known aliases,
physical description, photo (juvenile records appear not to provide
photos), date of birth, address, and offense data, including time
served and current status.
The Texas Department
of Public Safety maintains this official source of sex offender
registration information. Search by first and last name (partial
entries okay), city and zip code or zip code to find name, aliases,
date of birth, physical description, current address on file,
information about the offense and more. An interesting feature of this
database indicates whether the date of birth in the record is an
actual one. (Red ink indicates false date of birth.) Click Map on the
left-side navigation menu to find an interactive map that lets you
locate sex offenders living near a particular address.
